Summary:
Travel to dealership locations to inspect multiple manufacturers’ vehicles based on specific program guidelines. Inspect vehicles for body damage and signs of previous repairs, and record data utilizing an electronic hand-held computer and a digital camera.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducts thorough vehicle inspection according to guidelines established by client.
- Documents damages and suspected damages by entering data into hand held computer.
- Photographs damage with a digital camera per guidelines.
- Meets established productivity standards.
- Writes body and paint estimations and follows manufacturers guidelines.
- Detects poor prior repair, suspect frame damage, and other auto body damage as required.
- Assists in inspections at Marshalling locations as required.
Core Competencies
- Strong working knowledge of auto body repair
- Ability to detect body damage and signs of poor prior repair
Qualifications
- Body shop background in auto body and collision repair
- Estimating experience using Mitchell Guide
Education/Certification and/or Experience
- Experience using hand-held estimating devices
- Estimating experience from insurance appraisals or auction inspections
- Prior estimating/inspection experience in body shop or related estimating environment preferred
- Technical or vocational school training
- Body shop training such as Vale Tech or I Car helpful
- High school degree required

- This position will require travel to various dealerships within a designated region and possibly other regions in or out of state on an as needed basis
- This position will require extended hours including some weekends
Physical Demands
- Bending, stooping and kneeling
- Able to lift automobile hoods and deck lids, as well as look under the car for frame damage, core support or other
damage
