Summary:
Inspect multiple Manufacturers’ vehicles based on specific program guidelines. Inspect vehicles for body damage and signs of previous repairs, record data utilizing an electronic hand-held computer and a digital camera when applicable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts thorough vehicle inspection according to guidelines established by client.
- Documents damages and suspected damages by entering data into hand held computer. Photograph damage
with a digital camera when required.
- Meets productivity standards established by local and corporate management.
- Writes body and paint estimations and follow manufacturers guidelines.
- Detects poor prior repair, suspect frame damage, and other auto body
technical details as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Core Competencies
- Have a working knowledge of auto body repair
- Able to detect body damage and signs of poor prior repair
Qualifications
- Body shop background or collision repair experience
- Estimating experience using Mitchell Guide
Education/Certification and/or Experience
- Experience using or the ability to learn how to use a hand-held estimating devices
- Experience completing insurance appraisals, writing estimations or conducting auction inspections
- Prior estimating/inspection experience in body shop or related estimating environment preferred
- Technical or vocational school training
- Body shop training such as Vale Tech or I-Car helpful
- High school degree required

- Able to demonstrate written and oral communication skills

- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide

- Working within established guidelines; following procedures and exercising good judgment
Computer Skills
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
- I-CAR, APD, or PPP
- Auto body Training
- Estimation Training

- Able to be flexible and change work assignment as needed
- Strong professionalism – able to communicate with all levels of customers
- Able to write condition reports with excellent penmanship
- May require travel to other regions on an as needed basis
- May require extended hours including some weekends
Physical Demands
- Bending, stooping and kneeling
- Able to lift automobile hoods and deck lids, as well as look under the car for frame damage, core support or other damage
Work Environment
- All climates and temperatures
- Work outdoors year round
